AI Safety Türkiye (AISTR) is an independent community that brings together professionals and students who work or are interested in the effects of artificial intelligence technologies on society and humanity. Founded in 2023 by Berke Çelik and Bengüsu Özcan, AISTR serves as a network, training and information sharing platform in the field of artificial intelligence security.
Although AISTR's main founding purpose is to create a meeting point for people focusing on long-term risks caused by artificial intelligence in Turkey, we adopt a holistic approach to the short and long-term effects of artificial intelligence. We believe that artificial intelligence technologies will create a radical transformation in politics, economy and society in the 21st century. We aim to bring together and support people working to ensure that this transformation benefits humanity.
Our area of interest consists of a wide spectrum ranging from artificial intelligence alignment problems to security risks, from the current social effects of artificial intelligence to existential risks. We offer a platform that encourages knowledge sharing and collaboration for professionals working or interested in these issues.
AISTR is an independent community that works entirely on a voluntary basis and has no organic ties with any institution or organization. As of October 2024, we are not a legal entity.
