At our booth, we met hundreds of people and talked about the opportunities and risks that AI may create for humanity. We also ran a small interactive activity and asked one question, with each participant allowed only a single vote:

What do you think is the greatest danger of AI?

Here is how participants responded:

Loss of control

44

Unemployment

47

Misuse

93

Concentration of power / inequality

85

Surveillance

46

Other

27

We were glad to see such a wide range of answers.

We see AI safety as a broad field of research and practice that spans both near-term and long-term risks. There is a great deal that experts from technical fields such as engineering and mathematics, as well as human-centered fields such as policy, psychology, and law, can do in this space at both the global and local levels.

That is why, for us, every effort aimed at building an AI future that is inclusive, safe, transparent, and grounded in ethical values fits squarely within our understanding of AI safety.

So, what do you think is the greatest danger of AI?
